Returns & Refunds Policy

Last updated: 7 September 2026

At Yokai Apparel, we want you to be happy with your purchase.

Because our products are produced after an order is placed, we do not normally hold finished stock. However, this does not affect your statutory consumer rights.

This policy explains how to cancel an order, return products and request a refund.

1. Your statutory cancellation right

When you purchase a product from Yokai Apparel online, you generally have a legal right to cancel your order without giving a reason.

You have 14 days from the day after you receive the goods to tell us that you wish to cancel.

Once you have told us that you wish to cancel, you normally have a further 14 days to return the goods.

This statutory cancellation right applies even if you have simply changed your mind.

2. How to cancel an order

To exercise your cancellation right, contact us at:

info@yokaiapparel.co.uk

Please include:

  • your full name;

  • order number;

  • the product(s) you wish to return; and

  • a clear statement that you wish to cancel the order.

You do not need to give a reason.

You may use the following wording:

"I hereby give notice that I wish to cancel my contract for the purchase of the following product(s): [product name]. Order number: [order number]."

You may also contact us using any other clear statement confirming that you wish to cancel.

3. Returning unwanted products

If you cancel because you have changed your mind, products should be returned:

  • unworn;

  • unwashed;

  • undamaged;

  • in a resalable condition; and

  • with original packaging and tags where reasonably possible.

You are permitted to handle the product to the extent reasonably necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and functioning, in the same way you would reasonably be able to inspect it in a shop.

You may be responsible for any loss in value resulting from handling beyond what is reasonably necessary.

This does not affect your statutory rights.

4. Return postage

For a change-of-mind return, you are responsible for the cost of returning the product to us unless we have agreed otherwise.

We recommend using a tracked delivery service and keeping proof of postage.

Yokai Apparel cannot accept responsibility for returned goods that are lost in transit where you cannot provide evidence that they were returned.

If the product is faulty, damaged, incorrect or otherwise does not meet your statutory rights, please contact us before returning it so that we can advise you on the appropriate return arrangements.

5. Where to send returns

We will provide the appropriate return instructions and return address after you contact us.

Please do not send a return to the production or fulfilment address shown on your parcel unless we specifically instruct you to do so.

This is because our fulfilment arrangements may use third-party production and fulfilment locations.

6. Refunds for cancelled orders

When you validly cancel an order under your statutory cancellation rights, we will refund the eligible amount you paid.

This will normally include the cost of our standard delivery option.

If you selected a more expensive delivery service, we are only required to refund the amount equivalent to our standard delivery charge.

We will normally issue the refund using the same payment method used for the original purchase, unless we agree otherwise with you.

7. When will I receive my refund?

Once you have cancelled your order, we may wait until:

  • we receive the returned goods; or

  • you provide evidence that you have returned the goods,

before issuing the refund, where permitted by law.

Once the relevant conditions have been met, we will process the refund within the applicable legal timeframe.

Our aim is to process refunds as quickly as reasonably possible.

Your payment provider may then take additional time to make the funds available in your account.

8. Faulty or damaged products

If your product arrives faulty or becomes faulty within the applicable statutory period, please contact us.

Please email:

info@yokaiapparel.co.uk

with:

  • your order number;

  • a description of the fault;

  • photographs showing the problem; and

  • any other information that may help us assess the issue.

Please do not attempt to repair or modify a faulty product before contacting us, as this may affect the remedies available depending on the circumstances.

Where a product is faulty, not as described or otherwise fails to meet your statutory rights, we will provide the appropriate remedy required by applicable consumer law.

This may include:

  • repair;

  • replacement;

  • price reduction; or

  • refund.

9. Incorrect products

If you receive a product that is different from the product you ordered, please contact us at:

info@yokaiapparel.co.uk

Please provide your order number and photographs of the product received.

We will investigate the issue and arrange an appropriate remedy.

You should not have to bear the cost of correcting an error made by us or our fulfilment provider.

10. Damaged deliveries

If your order arrives visibly damaged, please take photographs of:

  • the packaging;

  • the shipping label; and

  • the damaged product.

Contact us as soon as reasonably possible at info@yokaiapparel.co.uk.

We will investigate the issue with the relevant fulfilment or delivery provider and arrange an appropriate remedy where required.

11. Size and fit

Please check the size guide provided on the relevant product page before placing your order.

If you order the wrong size, you may use your statutory cancellation rights where applicable.

Yokai Apparel does not normally provide direct exchanges.

Instead, the original item should be returned in accordance with this policy and you may place a new order for the required size.

Return postage for a change-of-mind or incorrect-size return is normally the customer's responsibility.

12. Exchanges

We do not normally offer direct exchanges.

If you need a different:

  • size;

  • colour; or

  • product,

please return the original product and place a new order.

This does not affect your statutory rights where the product is faulty, incorrect or otherwise does not meet the requirements of applicable consumer law.

13. Products made after ordering

Yokai Apparel products are produced after an order has been placed.

This production method helps us avoid unnecessary stock and allows products to be produced specifically in response to customer orders.

Our products are not personalised or made to an individual customer's specifications.

Accordingly, the fact that a product is produced after an order is placed does not, by itself, remove your statutory consumer rights.

14. Non-returnable circumstances

We may refuse a change-of-mind return or reduce the refund where permitted by law if:

  • the product has been damaged after delivery;

  • the product has been washed;

  • the product has been worn beyond reasonable inspection;

  • the product has been altered;

  • the product has been contaminated or otherwise returned in an unsuitable condition; or

  • its value has been reduced through handling beyond what is reasonably necessary to inspect it.

This section does not apply to remove or restrict your statutory rights in relation to faulty or defective goods.

15. International returns

Customers outside the United Kingdom may return eligible products in accordance with this policy and applicable consumer law.

Unless the product is faulty, incorrect or otherwise covered by a statutory remedy, the customer is normally responsible for the cost of returning an unwanted product.

Customers are also responsible for ensuring that returned goods comply with any applicable customs requirements.

Where possible, returns should be clearly identified as returned goods rather than a new commercial shipment.

We cannot guarantee that customs authorities in every country will process a return in the same way.

16. Import duties and taxes

For international orders, customers may be responsible for import duties, taxes or other charges imposed by the destination country.

These charges are separate from Yokai Apparel's product price unless expressly stated otherwise at checkout.

Import duties and taxes are generally not refundable by Yokai Apparel where they were charged by the customer's country or its customs authorities.

If an order is returned because the customer refuses to pay applicable import duties or taxes, the refund may be affected by any costs incurred in accordance with applicable law.

17. Orders that cannot be delivered

Please make sure that your delivery address is accurate when placing an order.

If an order cannot be delivered because:

  • the address provided was incorrect or incomplete;

  • the recipient was unavailable where further delivery arrangements were reasonably required;

  • the customer refused delivery; or

  • applicable import charges were not paid,

additional delivery or return costs may arise.

We will deal with such circumstances on a case-by-case basis and in accordance with applicable consumer law.

18. Promotional and sale items

Products purchased during a sale or promotional offer are subject to the same statutory consumer rights as products purchased at full price.

A sale or promotional price does not remove your legal rights where a product is faulty, not as described or otherwise fails to meet applicable consumer requirements.

19. Gift purchases

If you purchase a product as a gift, the statutory cancellation period normally applies to the person who entered into the purchase contract.

Please take this into account when purchasing gifts close to an occasion or event.

20. Contact

For all return, cancellation and refund enquiries, please contact:

Yokai Apparel

Email: info@yokaiapparel.co.uk

Please include your order number wherever possible so that we can deal with your request efficiently.

21. Your statutory rights

Nothing in this Returns & Refunds Policy is intended to limit or exclude any rights you have under applicable consumer protection legislation.

In particular, this policy does not remove your rights relating to:

  • faulty goods;

  • goods that are not as described;

  • goods that are not fit for purpose;

  • statutory cancellation rights for online purchases; or

  • any other rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Where this policy conflicts with a mandatory legal right, the legal right will apply.
